Wayne Gretzky started his record 51-game points streak on opening night of the 1983-84 season and he kept it intact through the end of January. While No. 99's feat lasted nearly four months, can you even get past the middle of October?

Ice the Streak '09 is designed for fans to select one player each night there are games scheduled. If your player records a goal or an assist that evening, you continue to play with a shot at building a lengthy streak and garnering bragging rights. Once your streak is snapped (assuming you are good enough to build any kind of a streak) you can continue to participate through the duration of the season in the hopes of stringing along something worthy of praise.

Oh, by the way, the unheralded Markus Mattsson was in goal for the Los Angeles Kings on January 28, 1984, the night Gretzky's streak was snapped.

The Rules are Simple!

1) Pick one player every day that you expect to score a point that day.

2) If your player records a goal or an assist, your streak continues. If your player fails to record a point OR you don't make a pick on a day where games are scheduled, you start a new streak the next day.

3) Keep playing all season long!

All games in the Ice The Streak Game '09 are regular season NHL games. (no Olympic or Playoffs)
